Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let’s pretend that we’re together all alone
I’ll tell the man to turn the juke box way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you he’ll have to go

What’s your favourite country record of all time? I used to ask that question of everyone I met in Nashville the first time I went there. It was great to see how troubled they became when they had to pick one. If they were like me at all they probably picked the one they’d heard on WSM that morning.
Perhaps you have rules? Heartbreak? Something or someone who’s lonesome?
One of these?

One of these?
Or a pun or two..

Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind?
Sadly this Friday there’s no Gentleman Jim but by heaven we have so much else.
Some of your favourite country songs of all time chosen by some of your favourite guest artists from Another Country. Here what Rodney Crowell, Patty Griffin, Laura Cantrell play in their trucks. And we get some outside help in. You might be surprised to hear what Jake Bugg or Edwyn Collins chose when we caught up with them recently.
Who would pick this artist?
And….why do some records not get mentioned yet we have two picks for this man?
I suspect you know the answers. So pick a spot, sit right down, pour yourself a little taste of Friday night and enjoy The All-Star Another Country Juke Box.
It all starts on BBC Radio Scotland at Friday evening at five past eight.
Another blisteringly good show last week. I always enjoy diving down the rabbit-hole of inspiration to my favourite artists in any field, both to discover new music, drama, literature or whatever in turn, and often to illuminate their own work a little more brightly. I love the AC’s mix of old and new music at the best of times, but this was a lovely journey through some country classics.
