- And the thing is this: this is the last show for six weeks. Over the summer I intend to do things like this…….
In the meantime we will celebrate 25 weeks of continuous broadcasts by playing our favourite artists and songs of the last six months. I’d like to think we’d play some new music too but for once we’re going to concentrate on things already out there. So let me put down one final marker for the second half of the year.
I’ve been listening this week to Mountain Man. I recommend them to your house.
So tomorrow……. Audra Mae, Beach House, Johnny Cash, Ryan Bingham, The Eels, Tift Merrit, Woodenbox…. and then…..
Yes, folks…The Courtyard Hounds in session and in conversation. What a finale….. All from 8 tomorrow on BBC Scotland.
em…….what game?
Looking forward to the retrospective of the past 6 months. Has it really been as many as 25 shows?! It’s gone so quickly, although I guess that’s a good sign. Good to see more Tift Merrit in there too – for all my extensive list of nominations, had I had more time to spend with the album “See You on the Moon” before compiling them, then that would’ve been in there too. “Mixtape” is a current favourite from that.
Looking forward to the Court Yard Hounds too. The song “See You in the Spring” is so poignant for me at the moment – one of those songs that just comes along to coincide with a particular moment in life that fits it so well that it comes to characterise it and they become inextricably linked. I love it.
Looks like you have a good summer in prospect too! I miss camping – it’s been too long, although I was enjoying the rustic life in Spain up to the end of last week and will be again soon. And is that Italy you’ll be visiting? I would recommend Mary Chapin Carpenter’s “What If We Went to Italy” – an atmospheric song about lazy summers and artistry – but I think you’ve suffered enough!
Have a great break, and I’ll see you here again at the other end of the summer…
Hi Ricky, you must come back to Spain again, still remember your concert in Valencia in Pachá, 80’s, it was the first concert of my life, great memories. I promise to make a big paella for you.
A great show to round off the current run, then. Thanks for the nod with Tift Merrit too!
And, above all else, just to say that I’m really intrigued by the notion of the Movie Club and am really looking forward to that. Count me in!
